Happy Friday! It’s been awhile, so I’m going to ease back in with a short post! I recently discovered two things: the tiered dress and POSH Boutique in Enid. Both of which I love! Fear not, if you don’t live in Enid – check out Olive & Oak online, they have similar styles of this dress! (TJ Maxx also carries this brand, so you might as well be looking for it next time you go!) The tiered dress is pretty flattering and right now, it’s everywhere. I put a simple Quartz Necklace with it (still deciding whether or not to make some for the shop) and a mint colored Rebecca Minkoff Purse, which is my new obsession! And you can’t overlook those awesome shoes either, which I got from Target…. a little crazy right? Or not, Target surprises me every day! (Err, not every day, because I live an hour from the closest one) Where to shop: Similar Dress: LOFT Similar Shoes: Nordstrom Similar Purse: Rebecca Minkoff For information on the Necklace contact us at BindhiandBrutus@gmail.com
If you follow my blog at all you probably know about my obsession with neon skirts. When I bought this one, I wasn’t sure how I was going to wear it, but I knew that I could make it work. Of course it will look great with navy blue, offwhite, taupe, and black, but why not try something new?
A lighter periwinkle looks better, but I can’t afford to keep buying things. SO DON’T TEMPT ME!!
Silk tops might not work great for summer BBQs, so for something more casual, try a tank with a jean vest. (I feel like I talk about summer BBQs ALL THE TIME, yet, I might go to one a year….. what is normal? I don’t know) The jean vests at Old Navy are surprisingly fashionable and are cropped just enough. You could go to J. Crew and spend $100, but go to Old Navy and get one for $30 instead.
It’s SPRING!! Don’t just put your toes in, JUMP into color!!

Well I don’t know about you, but I have a thing for floral print. A MAJOR thing. So a floral blazer? Well, it was a done deal. Here are 4 ways to wear it:
The easiest way to wear it is with a t-shirt and jeans. (Bonus points if you wear them with colored jeans/cords) Just adds that extra sum’n sum’n to an otherwise plain outfit.
A good casual Friday look would be with a flippy green skirt and a chambray shirt. (I’m pretty much a walking advertisement for LOFT at this point….. they should pay me)
Of course floral print with stripes. It is the new classic print mix combo. Get to know it!
I was putting together another look with this black sweater dress and decided that the floral blazer looked awesome with it! Sometimes the best looks are literally thrown together last minute. Over the knee boots and a mini dress, how could you go wrong?

It is always good to have an old episode of Downton Abbey available on your laptop when your flight goes longer than expected. Who doesn’t want to be reminded of the glory of Downton Abbey when both Matthew and Sybil were still alive?
OH I love traveling to visit my family in Virginia. Thai food, shopping, the fancy shampoo my mom puts in the guest bathroom and the extensive wine collection my parents have at their house- you know the important things.
But ah, you do not read this blog for my travel tips… though I do have quite a few.
Back to scarves!
One thing I LOVE about infinity scarves is all the work in correctly tying and wearing a scarf is mostly done. I even turn a lot of my regular scarves into infinity scarves so I can just throw it on and not worry about it getting all messed up.
This trip I decided to relive an old past time with my mom, fabric shopping! Except this time I actually enjoyed it. (Fabric shopping is one of those things that is awesome for the person shopping, but really awful if you don’t have a project in mind)
I used my mom’s beautiful singer sewing machine and decided to take the scarves out on a test run with my sister. (No, my hair is not going blonde)
We went to a winery in Clifton, VA to take the pics and realized that we should probably buy some wine so we would stop getting weird looks from the people working there.
Also because it was an excellent excuse to buy wine.
This print I love. It has so many colors, and can go with black AND navy.
This blue tribal print scarf is also great to wear with navy and black. (Those colors are important to me because they are the staples of packing! Or so I think) Also, this is the scarf my husband likes the best.
This scarf is sold out (My sis bought it, sorry!) But I wanted to take pictures of it anyways!
What adds more romance to a look than blush chiffon? The understated print allows this scarf to be worn as a solid and will look FABULOUS with black and white.
I always wondered if store owners kept a lot of the items that they sell, and now that I have a store, I can say, yes they do. Marketing right?
So many fun options to vamp up your wardrobe! Plus if none of these fits your fancy, we are frequently adding new styles. (And all scarves are on sale this weekend!!)
Like the show or not, who doesn’t want to have a little bit of Carrie Bradshaw’s style in their life? We can all have her best, most fashionable accessory– confidence. Be bold with me and wear what you like to wear without being self conscious about it. (Obviously some exclusion apply, please don’t wear leggings as pants or black undergarments under sheer white clothing– this is not style) Who says you can’t wear whimsy? If you are confident enough, you can wear almost anything you want to. The only thing that will make a bold outfit seem out of place is your insecurity.
And if all else fails, just put a jean jacket with it, right?
This skirt did it for me. These bell skirts are the perfect feminine addition to any girl’s closet. When first trying it on two of my lovely Pensacola friends had to talk me into it. (Thanks Anna and Jess!) Sometimes your friends say things that will stick in your mind forever, and this was one of those moments. I was questioning my ability to pull it off and wear it to work, and Anna said, “Why can’t you be the one in your office that can pull anything off?” I can be that person. It is almost all about confidence. (And sometimes your budget…)
So I present to you 8 ways to wear the bell skirt. (My favorite still being the Oklahoma Kitty t-shirt) The easiest way to wear it is with a tank and a jean jacket, but as I’ve learned from the J. Crew catalogue, a great way to dress down an otherwise fancy skirt– tie a t-shirt at the top of it.
Also, if you are like me and have more dresses than t-shirts, tuck a dress into your skirt! Don’t be afraid to do something unconventional. Make your closet work for you!
Another way to add more detail to to your outfit is to add a scarf. It can help tie your whole outfit together, especially if the tops you have are very plain. (Also, who doesn’t need more polka dots in their life?)
Here are some other great bell skirts:
Well I didn’t plan this post for St. Patricks Day, but I guess it worked out! I have been eyeing this skirt for months, and it finally went on sale in the store, yay!! I don’t think the staff at J. Crew understood or shared my excitement. This skirt it amazing and I want it it every color. Definitely splurge worthy!
When I was walking out of the store with my “final sale” purchase I got a ping of fear as I realized, I wasn’t even sure I had anything to match it. (I realize there are many more things in this world to fear than not having anything in my closet to match this skirt–don’t judge me!) So I came home, put on some Britney Spears, and started tearing through my closet. I also drooled my way through the J. Crew catalogue to get some inspiration.
First of all, I put the skirt with a t-shirt. Pretty much the easiest way to wear the skirt. Tuck it in, half tuck it, or tie it to the side, it will all look right. Add a necklace, a scarf, or BOTH, and you have an outfit.
The easiest way to try the new crop top trend is with a high waisted skirt. So although I am still too afraid to bare any skin, I did put on a cami and threw a crop top on with it. And also this awesome scarf.
J. Crew puts pullover sweaters and sweatshirts with this skirt in all of their catalogues, so I decided to try that look myself. Definitely a great way to dress it down for every day wear!
I thought maybe I could wear this skirt to work, but clearly it is too short. However, I did put together a corporate look that can easily be worn out with your friends. Also, all three pieces are on sale, right now.
If you are a little more hipster–try tucking in a chambray or white collared shirt, buttoning it all the way up, then putting a statement necklace right up under the collar.
Of course as a sucker for white lace, I put it with the green skirt as well. AND IT GOES! Duh. Basically, if you want to look feminine, wear some white lace.
I also wanted to show how a cute scarf can make such a difference and really pull a whole outfit together! During the summer, put the skirt with a simple tank and a bright silky scarf. (Add a jean jacket when it gets chilly at night)
There are many more ways to wear this skirt, but it is all about proportion. Try something new or stick with your basics!
Last week gave me hope. Hope that the weather would finally warm up and I could start wearing dresses WITHOUT tights. But today it is 10 degrees. TEN.
During the pre-ten degree days, I went into scarf making mode and took out my vintage singer machine. I love that machine so much– it is so beautiful. My cat loves it too.
Although more styles are coming soon, I could not wait to post a blog about these awesome new scarves. I even made Lyssa get into shorts and sandals to model them!
Infinity scarves are so easy to wear, because unlike other scarves, you do not have to do any work when putting them on. You do not have to figure out the best way to tie them or wrap them, you just have to twist it and put it over your head. Depending on the fabric, you can wear them with almost anything. You can put them with a t-shirt, tank top, dress, blouse, whatever!
This t-shirt jersey scarf is awesome for the summer and looks great with flowy tops and dresses, and would be great to bring to the beach! You can use it as a pillow while laying out, or dress down your favorite maxi when you go cool off with some froyo.
It is also great to wear now, while it is still 10 degrees.
My FAVORITE new scarf in the shop is this neon coral tribal rayon scarf. It went well with a surprisingly large proportion of my closet. Also it is so soft and the pop of color is much needed during these cloudy months. It goes great with navy blue, maroon, white, grey…I could keep going, for awhile.
All you need to make a cute summer outfit is a tank, shorts, and a cute accessory! So easy. The scarves are great for those chilly summer nights and an easy accent piece to travel with. (Or if you’re like me and you have to cover up so you won’t get burned)
Just find a versatile scarf that will go with YOUR wardrobe. You could go with a statement scarf, a neutral one or BOTH!
In case you don’t know how to put on an infinity scarf here is a little tutorial!
