Fluted Green Skirt- 8 Ways

Well I didn’t plan this post for St. Patricks Day, but I guess it worked out! I have been eyeing this skirt for months, and it finally went on sale in the store, yay!! I don’t think the staff at J. Crew understood or shared my excitement. This skirt it amazing and I want it it every color. Definitely splurge worthy!

When I was walking out of the store with my “final sale” purchase I got a ping of fear as I realized, I wasn’t even sure I had anything to match it. (I realize there are many more things in this world to fear than not having anything in my closet to match this skirt–don’t judge me!) So I came home, put on some Britney Spears, and started tearing through my closet.  I also drooled my way through the J. Crew catalogue to get some inspiration.

First of all, I put the skirt with a t-shirt.  Pretty much the easiest way to wear the skirt.  Tuck it in, half tuck it, or tie it to the side, it will all look right.  Add a necklace, a scarf, or BOTH, and you have an outfit.

The easiest way to try the new crop top trend is with a high waisted skirt.  So although I am still too afraid to bare any skin, I did put on a cami and threw a crop top on with it.  And also this awesome scarf.

J. Crew puts pullover sweaters and sweatshirts with this skirt in all of their catalogues, so I decided to try that look myself.  Definitely a great way to dress it down for every day wear!

I thought maybe I could wear this skirt to work, but clearly it is too short.  However, I did put together a corporate look that can easily be worn out with your friends. Also, all three pieces are on sale, right now.

If you are a little more hipster–try tucking in a chambray or white collared shirt, buttoning it all the way up, then putting a statement necklace right up under the collar.

Of course as a sucker for white lace, I put it with the green skirt as well. AND IT GOES! Duh. Basically, if you want to look feminine, wear some white lace.

I also wanted to show how a cute scarf can make such a difference and really pull a whole outfit together! During the summer, put the skirt with a simple tank and a bright silky scarf. (Add a jean jacket when it gets chilly at night)

There are many more ways to wear this skirt, but it is all about proportion. Try something new or stick with your basics!

Celeb Inspired Style – Kourtney Kardashian

This week’s celeb inspired style is an outfit worn by Lord Disick’s other half : Kourtney Kardashian. Not only does LD have a fine taste in cars, watches, and jewelry, he’s also got himself a pretty gorgeous baby-mama.

Kourtney’s wearing a super comfy, flowy spring dress paired with a tailored white blazer. Brown wedge sandals and subtle accessories make this outfit wearable for so many occasions.

Nothing brightens my mood more than wearing a feminine spring dress after many cold and dreary days, so today I’m wearing my own version of Kourtney’s outfit. And I would recommend you do the same, as soon as you get a warm sunny day!

Celeb Inspired Style – Kate Middleton

The queen of classy is none other than the Duchess of Cambridge – Kate Middleton. She’s always elegant but in a preppy sort of way that doesn’t age her beyond her years. I love love LOVE stripes, so this outfit was pretty much a favorite as soon as I saw it. I like how she’s keeping it casual with her hair down and minimal accessories, but you could easily add some statement jewelry pieces to dress this up or add your own personal flair to it. I think some gold chain Niloulu necklaces would be perfect – like this Layered Gold Chain Necklace or this Chunky Gold Chain Necklace.

How to Wear Infinity Scarves

20140228-185701.jpg

Last week gave me hope. Hope that the weather would finally warm up and I could start wearing dresses WITHOUT tights. But today it is 10 degrees. TEN.

During the pre-ten degree days, I went into scarf making mode and took out my vintage singer machine.  I love that machine so much– it is so beautiful.  My cat loves it too.

Although more styles are coming soon, I could not wait to post a blog about these awesome new scarves.  I even made Lyssa get into shorts and sandals to model them!

Infinity scarves are so easy to wear, because unlike other scarves, you do not have to do any work when putting them on.  You do not have to figure out the best way to tie them or wrap them, you just have to twist it and put it over your head.  Depending on the fabric, you can wear them with almost anything.  You can put them with a t-shirt, tank top, dress, blouse, whatever!

This t-shirt jersey scarf is awesome for the summer and looks great with flowy tops and dresses, and would be great to bring to the beach! You can use it as a pillow while laying out, or dress down your favorite maxi when you go cool off with some froyo.

It is also great to wear now, while it is still 10 degrees.

My FAVORITE new scarf in the shop is this neon coral tribal rayon scarf. It went well with a surprisingly large proportion of my closet. Also it is so soft and the pop of color is much needed during these cloudy months.  It goes great with navy blue, maroon, white, grey…I could keep going, for awhile.

All you need to make a cute summer outfit is a tank, shorts, and a cute accessory! So easy. The scarves are great for those chilly summer nights and an easy accent piece to travel with. (Or if you’re like me and you have to cover up so you won’t get burned)

Just find a versatile scarf that will go with YOUR wardrobe. You could go with a statement scarf, a neutral one or BOTH!

In case you don’t know how to put on an infinity scarf here is a little tutorial!
